When Hunger Meets Truth

Today, God drew my attention to a verse in Matthew 4:4. It says, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

These are the words Jesus spoke in response to Satan's temptation. Satan challenged Jesus to turn stones into bread, but Jesus responded that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Satan was tempting Jesus to act independently, relying on Himself rather than on God.

Hey, friend, have you ever found yourself in a situation where you acted without seeking God's guidance or relying on His Word? This was precisely the kind of temptation Jesus faced. Yet, He overcame it by choosing to stand firm in God's Word.

Don't you think His response is profound?

What can we learn from this? Whenever we are tempted to take matters into our own hands without seeking God, may we remember that we are called to live by His Word. When we stand firm in it, the tempter has no choice but to flee.

Dear God, thank You for the power of Your Word. May we learn to wield it against the enemy and resist the devil. May we have the wisdom that Jesus displayed when He was tempted. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
