The Growing Wings.

There is a beautiful truth about growing in our spiritual life. C.S. Lewis, in his book Mere Christianity, explains this in a common-man language. He is known for explaining deep theology in layman’s language.

Yes, it is true that we are righteous in Christ. But does that mean there is no failure in you and there will be a super-empowerment with complete angelic transformation? God can certainly do it, but He also allows us to grow through the process. But we Christians, once saved, can still struggle with sin and sometimes fall into it. Why does this happen?

Indeed, we are delivered by the cross, by the blood of Jesus Christ. C.S. Lewis describes this transformation as a horse becoming a new creature, a winged horse. The winged horse can do the impossible that the normal horse cannot do. But can wings grow in a day?

Here is the learning part. C.S. Lewis says when a horse is changed into a winged horse, the beginning of the growth of the wings will be like a lump. Can a lump be beautiful? No way. It is going to look ridiculous. But it is sure to grow into a winged horse that will fly.

When a person is a new creature in Christ, it does not mean that every struggle disappears overnight. The old challenges may still try to wage war against him. But now, he is no longer fighting from the side of defeat. He is learning to fight from the victory Christ has already accomplished. He is learning to use the sword of God.

In reality, the transformation happens in our minds. As Romans 12:2 says, “Be renewed by the transformation of your mind.” Now the new man is equipped with new equipment. He is equipped with the Word of God that can overcome every lie, every deception, and every temptation.

Like the horse is growing wings, we need to grow in using the Word of God. With this comes the renewal of the mind. With this comes the destruction of the strongholds.

Allow yourself time to grow into the new creature where God surely intends you to fly.

Like I said in my other blog, we are now waging war from the side of accomplished victory. We do not fear the enemy now. We don't fear that we will fall. We don't fear defeat. We are victorious in Christ already.

Hey friend, having the transformation in the mind is what we aim for. Read the Word. Break every stronghold one after another. Move, soldier. Victory is yours, as you are of Christ.

Dear God, may we be patient and grow consistently in You. Empower us with Your Word, Lord. Open our eyes to every truth, Lord. May the devil know there is no way he can have his way with us. Strengthen us, dear Lord.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
