Grace for Today
The Psalms are a great source of comfort and strength when we face battles in life, whether physical or spiritual. We can turn to them in prayer and find words to express what we are going through. In Psalm 56, the psalmist cries out to God as his enemies attack and pursue him throughout the day. In the following verses, we see how his enemies twist his words and use lies against him. They plot against him, seeking to bring him down.
Hey, friend, when we are pursued, when we are afraid, where should we go? The psalmist says in verse 4, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Though we feel like we are surrounded by fear, by the people around us, and by the pursuit of the enemy, let us anchor our trust in the Lord, who will deliver us.
We went and visited a beloved aunt of ours who is very sick. When I saw the unbearable suffering she goes through, I asked her, “As you pray about everything, what is God saying to you regarding this sickness?” She didn't hesitate but said, “God told me to trust in Him. He said He will heal me.”
I found it tough to watch her suffering, but God gives grace and strength to people every day to take one step ahead at a time. Whatever our situation may be, may we take one more step ahead in faith. Let's walk in faith. Then we will start to see things differently. Our words about ourselves, our struggles, and our situations will change.
Dear God, thank you for the grace you are adorning us with every day in our everyday battle with this world. Thank you for anchoring our trust in you, Lord. We commit every step of ours into your hands. May our steps be guided by you. May your hands hold us. May our minds be transformed by the words of faith. May we walk not by sight, but by faith. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

God’s grace is enough for every day, reminding us to trust him
