Back to the Basics

What was life like for the disciples after the resurrection of Jesus Christ? It was an about 360-degree change for them. From listening, they started preaching with the power of the Holy Spirit. The receiving of the Holy Spirit gave them so much confidence to face whatever was ahead. And they knew that those who repent and put their faith in Christ can live like them.

It is in Chapter 2, verse 38. Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, for the promise is to you and to your children, and for all who are afar off, as many as the Lord will call.”

What clarity Peter has! He knew what started in Christ would spread throughout the whole world. In Chapter 3, verse 25, he says, “And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

What gave them so much hope, courage, and boldness? It is the fact that they are the witnesses of the Christ who is resurrected. They have understood the power of salvation in Christ. They have understood that the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, lives in them.

We too know it. We had our day of salvation. We too have experienced the touch of the Holy Spirit. We are also the witnesses of the resurrected Christ. Are we living with courage like Peter and the other disciples? Are we still going under the pressures of the world?

The key to living in this power is to have a strong conviction about who Christ is, what salvation is, and what it means to have the Holy Spirit living in us.

Hey friend, if you are finding yourself questioning the things that are happening to you and letting your faith waver, may I tell you to go back to the basics? Learn about the power of salvation. Learn about what it is to have the Holy Spirit living in you. Drench yourself in studying the Word of God. Get to know who your God is and what He has done for us. Ask Him to reveal the depth of the Father’s love.

By doing so, we can surely see the change that our spiritual man will experience. Strengthen yourselves, my friend. We have so much love, confidence, and power in Christ. We just need to believe that we already have the love of the Father and the power of the Holy Spirit in us.

May God help us to live in the depth of the power of our faith in Christ.

Dear God, thank You for the salvation. Thank You for the confidence that the Holy Spirit gives us. Thank You, Lord, for filling us with the knowledge of knowing You and what You have done for us. May we live it, Lord. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
