A City, a Thirst, and a Searching Godš„ļøš¢š³ļøā“ļøā
It was a Sunday morning in Tuticorin. My sister came to pick me up from the railway station to her home. I was curiously seeing the new improvements the city has seen in its infrastructure over the years. It was well and good. But what attracted me most was that I saw families going to church together early in the day, by 5 in the morning. God has blessed the district with godly people who have the heart to seek the Lord. I was so glad to witness it.
The coming few days were hot indeed, but the atmosphere was clear with the presence of God. I simply loved hearing the chiming of the church bells from the beautiful church that is near to my sister's house. The sermons were loud, and I loved hearing them every day. Songs were played for ten minutes or more every evening. Oh, how I miss such beauty in the places I have lived.
I was touched to see one of the grocery shops having a New Testament book tray along with the trays of vegetables. The shopkeeper must have understood that the Bible is the only nourishing food for the soul. It was a new normal to me to see Christians living as themselves with freedom there, as in many parts of Tamil Nadu, sadly, it is not possible.
All this summed up to bring the verse in the Psalm to my mind. Psalm 53:2 says, āGod looks down from heaven on the entire human race; He looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.ā When this picture of Tuticorin brings joy to my mind, then won't it bring joy to God's heart?
One of the highly rewarding characteristics we can have in us is the heart that searches for God. Our body signals and asks for food when it's tired. Our soul requires only one thing. It is the fellowship we can have with our God. Do we have the thirst for Him?
Can we live with a thirst for water by ignoring it? No way, right? Then how can we think it is normal when we live without searching for God, the lover of our soul?
Never ignore the loneliness that peeps out when you are distant from the presence of the Lord. As Joshua Yestove Annan said in his message recently, the secret to a victorious Christian life is not fighting against the world. But it is in covering yourself with the presence of the Lord.
Worship the Lord and let your spirit enjoy the presence of the Lord. Immerse yourself in the Word of the Lord. Even if you read two chapters, read them with your full heart. May the Holy Spirit talk to you and lead you. Hold on to the verse that the Lord searches for you when you have the thirst for the Lord. You might think you are searching for the Lord, but the Lord is also searching for people who seek Him.
Psalm 145:18 says, āThe LORD remains near to all who call out to him, to everyone who calls out to him sincerely.ā
Seek Him, my friend. May the Lord find you seeking Him, thirsting for Him. Nothing in this world is more rewarding than His presence.
Cut the world in you. Spit it out. We can't serve the world. We need to detach ourselves from the world and should attach ourselves to the Lord.
Dear God, you are a God who consecrates us, you are a God who strengthens us, you are a God who seeks us and is joyful over us. Give us the grace to live out loud for You, Lord. Let no trace of compromise be found in us. Let no trace of the world be seen in us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
